At the end of this quarter I feel like I have learned a lot of new things, especially how to write a good essay because it was really hard for me before. I have learned how to write and find a thesis statement and how this thesis will relate in the other paragraphs. Also, now I understand what an outline is and how to write an outline. I have learned a lot of things from Plato assignment: what is dependent and independent clauses, where we should put comma, dash, semi colon and other punctuations. Although, I know this staff before, but after this quarter I know it more deeply. Nevertheless, Reading LAB was kind of useless for me because my reading skills are really good and it was like a reminder for me, nothing new. Next quarters I would like to learn more deeply about the essay and try to write it better. Finally, this quarter was really productive for everybody and of course this is the merit of our teacher, Monika Monk, she is the best!

Happiness

Every person has his own understanding of happiness. A man creates happiness for himself and by himself. I am absolutely sure that happiness doesn’t count in money. Those people who have a lot of money are often feeling lonely. They don’t know if people love them for their money or for their personality. They don’t have real friends and love as a result. I think that a man who doesn’t have a lot of money is much happier. For me happiness is when my closest people are happy, when you enjoy every moment of your life and find pleasure and joy in every day, when you love and somebody loves you. Also, I think that people are happy when they have a lot of friends, a good job, a nice house, family and of course strong health.

Traveling

If you pack for travelling, the first thing you should take is papers such as passport, tickets and money or a credit card. Most people prefer credit card because it is convenient and safely. Things for hygiene are also important. They include tooth-brush with tooth paste, shampoo and soap. What clothes you should take depend on where you go and the purpose of your traveling. When I went to the Mediterranean Sea I took: shirts, t-shirts, glasses, sandals and cream for my skin. Camera and mobile phone are very useful things too. I think that every person wants to have memories.

As I said I went to the Mediterranean Sea. I had a very good time. Every day I sunbathed on the sandy beaches and swam in the sea. The water was really warm. In the evenings my friends and I went to the bars and discos. While travelling I had an opportunity to meet with new people and communicate with them in English. I enjoyed sightseeing, taking pictures and shopping. So I can say that the traveling experience is magical and unforgettable, and that is why we are looking forward to travel again and again.

To be a Parent is a Very Serious Task

You can't have anything but a lot of patience. If you show them love, respect and patience they will learn it and pass it onto others. Make sure that you tell your child that you love them several times a day. Spend a lot of time with them, enjoy going somewhere with them like: trips to the library, museum, park, even at early ages. You need to be easy with the punishments because they will never forget it. Know what they are doing at home, and out with friends. Talk with them and be there for them. Let them grow and be independent. Let them talk with you about their news. Don't watch television or talk on the phone, give them your attention to them, otherwise they may feel you don't care about what they want to say. Always say you love them before they go to sleep at night and when they first wake up in the morning. They will sleep better and be better kids because of it.

Difference Between the USA and Belarus, "Food"

There are a lot of differences between USA and Belarus, but the main difference in my opinion is the “Food.” In Belarus there not so many fast food restaurants, while in America you can find hundreds of different fast food restaurants. And this is very bad for our health to eat that “Junk Food” because it contains a lot of calories, fat and sugar. That’s why you can’t find fat people on the streets of my country. Everybody look healthy and athletic with a good fashion sense. We make our food from high quality products. This is always traditional, slow-cooked meals. No processed food, that you can put into the microwave and eat it couple minutes later. It’s also bad for our health because processed food contains a big percentage of sodium and trans fat. In the USA you can find any kind of the processed food with the flavor you want. In Belarus you can find such food, but it’s unpopular and it’s not so good. It’s easier to cook something by yourself. So I think that American people eat too much easy cooked meals. And this is the biggest difference between USA and my country.

City or Countryside?

The city is the place where all industrial cultural and educational centers are situated. In big cities you can find museums, theaters, clubs, cinemas, big shops and hospitals, comfortable modern flats. People try to live in cities because of the advantages that they have. For example if you get sick a hospital or pharmacy will be situated near your house in the city, and if you live in the country it will be hard to find any medical help in a short time. Besides in big cities you can find all sorts of entertainment such as cinemas, clubs, parks and other different attractions. Many people like to spend their free time there because it helps them to relax and brings them a lot of pleasure. It is really convenient that everything you need in your everyday life is situated near you. One of the most important comforts of big cities is that you can get everywhere you like very fast either by bus, by trolley bus or by taxi.
In big cities there is electricity therefore you can use electrical devices such as TV sets, computers, radio, microwave ovens, refrigerators and so on. One more thing, without which it would be impossible to live today, is the telephone and where there is a telephone there is also Internet. The connection is very important for people and we’ve got used to it so without telephone we feel uncomfortable and lonely.
Yes, it is really comfortable, and at first site everything is good but nowadays in big cities there is a great amount of cars and factories. Big cities suffer from overpopulation, dirty air and water, the streets are noisy and after hard working day people cannot relax. People try to do everything to go to the countryside because only there they can find quietness. Every holiday and every weekend people try to leave their houses and go to the country. The ecological conditions in towns are very bad because there are a lot of industrial objects there.
As for me I prefer to live in a big city because I can find a job easier and get a good education, but I also like to spend my holidays in the country because after living in the city for about 9 months I start getting tired.

World Cup News

One of the strongest representatives of the African football team of Ghana midfielder and Chelsea's Michael Essien will miss the World Cup tournament.

The captain of the "Black stars" throughout the season was treated because of knee problem, so was able to help Chelsea only in 14 games and of the English Championship. Essien tried to complete his recovery before the start of the World Championship, but on Thursday it became clear that Michael will not be able to come to normal before the end of June. Lecture in the Senate Room.

We had a presentation last week of how to improve your speed in reading. I am not a native speaker, but my reading skills are good. Sometimes if I read something that hard to understand I use dictionary a lot and that slows me down. First, the teacher that presented the lecture, told us to read a novel for one minute and then count how many lines and the average of how many words in each line, and then multiply the number of lines on the number of words. When I multiply all that my score was around 300 hundred. After that he shows us a chart where I saw that 300 hundred words is an average score for a reader. Then he shows us how to improve your reading speed at least for 100 words. It was called “Push Drill.” In that exercise we have to push ourselves to read as fast as you can. He told us to read a page in ten seconds, after that 8 seconds, then 6 seconds, then 4 seconds and 2 seconds. Also we have to make a discussion with our partner about what we remembered from reading. That was fun and “Push Drill” helps everybody because after the drill he told us to read a novel for one minute again and everybody increased their score in reading for almost 100 words.

Reading in English is not difficult for me because I am doing it since first grade. I am learning English almost 14 years, but I didn’t have so much practice in my country as I have here. Back in school I read a lot of books. The books that I read where written by famous English writers: Charles Dickens, Jonathan Swift, Lewis Carroll and of course the world wide famous William Shakespeare. These greatest authors wrote a lot of interesting and exciting stories a long time ago, but these stories are still very popular today. Honestly, I don’t really like to read books, but if I try something and I like it I can spend hours with that book. Today I don’t have time for that. In my free time I prefer to read some news in the internet, but they all in Russian language. Finally, I want to say that I am not a reading person, I would rather watch something on the TV.))))

Villa Transfer to Barcelona This Friday!

Forward of the Spanish national team and Valencia David Villa, in two days will officially become a player Catalon Barcelona.

Life After TCC

If i will study hard and will be lucky to finish TCC i will be really proud of my self. My goal is to finish the college and try to transfer to the university. That is not an easy goal because i am studying in the foreign country and do all this in English. So that might be an interesting and exciting period of my life. University degree can give much more opportunities than just a college degree. So i will trying to transfer to the university. After university you can easily find a great job. Well, that what i want to do after the TCC and i will give all my best for reaching that goal.

Future Classes

Advising day is coming up and i will get a registration key for EAP, for the summer quarter! In the future i want to take biology and chemistry. These classes will help me in the future because my major is in medical field.Although i like biology. In Belarus that was one of my loved subjects, but i don't really like chemistry maybe because our chemistry teacher, back in school, was really strict. I believe that for the first period of learning these subjects here, for me it will be a little bit difficult because it will be all in English. Well, its all good, because i came here to study and learning new things. So it will be fun to take those subjects.

Some days are important than the others. These days can change your life. The events from this days can be positive or negative, big events or small ones. Of course for each person they are different. I would like to tell you about my little event from my life.

Last Spring I and my friends went to Seattle on the USC 12. USC is the main music event in our state that held several times in a year. On that event come top Dj’s from around the globe. So we went to see “Chemical Brothers” and “The Prodigy”. These bands are legends in the Electronic music, and both are from Britain.

The show started from 8 p.m. and ended at 4 a.m. This was amazing show. There were around five thousand people dancing in the WAMU theatre. WAMU theatre is very good place for such events because it is huge building that can hold up to ten thousand people in it. It’s located right in the center of Seattle near Quest Field.

From the last essay you remembered that my favorite music band is “The Prodigy”. So that was my night because I was on their live show first time in my life. They started to play from 2 a.m. till 3 a.m. That was my best hour of my life. I was jumping and screaming the words of the songs in the crowd. While I was doing it I hold my camera in my hand and recorded the show. In the middle of the gig some guy accidently knocked my camera out of my hand. The camera flew straight into the crowd. I was stunned. In that moment I did not care about the camera, but about the video I was recorded. So in couple minutes my camera turned back to me and I was really shocked by the fact that the camera turned back because I don’t expect that somebody can pick it up in such a mess. First, I look at the camera but nothing was wrong with it. Then I checked the memory card, but the video did not survive.

On the next day I was little bit upset about it. Well that was my little event from my life. This event is very important for me because I am listening to “The Prodigy” more than half of my life. Before that day I have never thought that I can be on their live show. I believe that it wasn’t the last time I saw them live. I would like to be there at least one more time.

The results of the quaterfinals

The crazy perfomance of Lionel Messi against Arsenal, Bayern Munich closed the door for Manchester United, Moscow can't do nothing with Milan and derby between two French clubs were the highlights of the Champions League quarterfinals.

The best player of the last season Lionel Messi scored four goals and killed the Arsenal 4-1 (6-3 aggreagate). Now Barcelona will play with Inter Milan in semifinals. The Italians won Russians by 1-0(2-0agg.) and got the ticket with no problems.

Louis Van Gaal's(Munchen coach) Bayern lost to Manchester United 3-2 but the goals on the away stadium gave them the pass to the semifinals. Manchester United had a great start. The team from England scores 2 goals in the first seven minutes, but the German team proved to be a big club in history just like their opponents from the UK.

Bayern will play with Lyon(France), who lost to Bordeaux in second match (0-1), but classified due to aggregate score(3-2agg.). As we know, the final game will take place in Madrid this year.

Descriptive Essay, Draft 1

Right now my life is very busy. I am a full-time student and a full-time hard worker. And this is continues almost year and a half. When I came to USA I thought that my life here will be not so hard, but it’s all good I’m young and I have a lot of energy.
I don’t know what is going on with climate here, but I know that this climate is not for me. For that short period
of time that I live here I was sick a lot of times. Maybe this is all because of my really busy schedule. I sleep six hours and this is not enough for me. My plan for near future is to change my job on something easier, part time or something. Maybe after that I will fill better.
Today I feel really bad. I have a toothache and I need to make an appointment to the dentist. When you sick or something bad happened with you, you can’t work or study as good as you can. I know everything about this situation because it is follow me last half a year.

Every team show really good soccer and each team worth to be in the Quarter-Final. The scores of the games are fair in my opinion.
I have watched only two games out of four, Bayern Munchen vs Manchester United and Inter vs CSKA Moskva. The team from Moscow was really lucky that they missed only one because it can be 3 or even 5:0. Inter madу lots of great moments but the ball won't go through the gate. That's why all players of the CSKA must to say thanks for this to their very good goalkeeper. CSKA defended the whole game in Italy and they have not create any attacks, but I think that it would be another game in Moscow because they would play in front of their fans and on their motherland!

Champions League is the best soccer tournament between the best soccer clubs in Europe. The last winner is F. C. Barcelona.
